The lead single from American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift’s tenth studio album, Midnights (2022), is titled “Anti-Hero.” “Anti-Hero,” a pop rock and synth-pop song written and produced by Swift and Jack Antonoff, features looping drums and vintage synthesizers. Anxiety, depression, and self-hatred are all discussed in the lyrics. The song was made available for digital download on October 21, 2022, and Republic Records played it on contemporary hit radio on October 25 and US hot adult contemporary radio on October 24.

The song, which criticizes societal pressures and her flaws, was inspired by Swift’s nightmares, issues with depersonalization, and self-hatred.

The song received praise from music critics for its direct lyricism, catchy rhythm, synth-based instrumentation, vocal tones, and position as the best Midnight song by Billboard; Some people even called it Swift’s best lead single.

The publication “Anti-Hero” was listed as one of the best songs of 2022 on year-end lists, a going with the music video for the tune, composed and coordinated by Quick, debuted on October 21 also using three different Swifts, shows her fears, insecurities, and eating disorders.

In the United States, it was Swift’s ninth number-one single and made her the only solo artist to ever debut five songs at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. In a video that she shared on Instagram, Swift said that “Anti-Hero” is one of her favorite songs ever. She stated that the song provides a comprehensive examination of her mental insecurities, describing the negative aspects of herself and her struggle with “not feeling like a person.”
